Breaking Barriers: Squires Electric Achieves Official Certification as a Woman-Owned Business
Squires Electric, an electrical contractor servicing Oregon and SW Washington, proudly announces its certification as a Women Business Enterprise (WBE) by Business Oregon’s Certification Office for Business Inclusion &
Diversity (COBID). This program provides certified firms opportunities to compete for government contracts regardless of owner ethnicity, gender, disability, or firm size.
Squires Electric, founded by Joe Squires in 1998, achieved this certification after the company was acquired by VP Erin Huffard, whose career with the company began in 2011. Erin started with Squires as an electrician, was subsequently promoted to estimator, quickly helped grow the company as Sales Manager, and eventually
promoted to Vice President in 2022.
“The WBE certification truly helps to break barriers and opens new avenues for Squires to collaborate with businesses, non-profit organizations, and government agencies that actively seek diverse contractors,” says Huffard. “It not only aligns with our values but also promotes our passion for equality and diversity within the construction trade.”
Squires Electric remains focused on delivering exceptional service to their property management and general contractor clients in Oregon and SW Washington. This certification will provide additional incentives for many of their existing customers while also opening doors for new opportunities.
